Campbeltown Sea Cadets are affiliated to the Sailing Club as during the summer months our training takes place on Campbeltown Loch using the Clubhouse as a base. Our training includes rowing and recreational sailing but the Sea Cadets offers a range of activities both locally and nationally, including Royal Yachting Association qualifications in sailing, windsurfing and power boating, British Canoe Union qualifications in kayaking and canoeing and offshore training in both sailing and power vessels.
Throughout the year we meet at the Cadet Hall, Hazelburn Business Park, at 7pm on Monday evenings and during the winter months training is shorebased and includes seamanship skills, navigation, marine engineering, first aid, catering and communication as well as other maritime and recreational activities. Our Commanding Officer is Alasdair MacPhail.
The Sea Cadets aim to help young people grow to become responsible adults using a maritime theme based on the traditions of the Royal Navy. All young people aged between 10 and 18 years of age are very welcome to come along on the night or phone the commanding officer for more details. Adults who would like to become involved are very welcome. No particular skills or qualifications are needed as these can be obtained through the Sea Cadet Corps if required.
